With Dewel Music and Dewel Movies now live and growing, we're turning our attention to two new platforms that will expand the Dewel Network ecosystem. Today, we're sharing our plans for Dewel Books and Dewel Travel—two products that extend our mission of empowering independent creators.
Dewel Books: A New Chapter for Independent Authors
Publishing has long been controlled by a handful of major houses that decide what gets published and promoted. While self-publishing platforms like Amazon KDP have opened doors for independent authors, they've also created a race to the bottom where authors compete primarily on price rather than quality.
Dewel Books will take a different approach. We're building a platform that celebrates independent voices and helps readers discover books based on quality and personal taste, not just sales rankings and algorithmic recommendations.
For authors, we're developing tools that matter: beautiful book formatting, direct reader relationships, and fair royalties (we're targeting a 70% royalty rate for authors). Authors will retain full rights to their work while gaining access to global distribution and a community of readers actively seeking independent literature.
We're also building reading experiences that go beyond simple e-books. Think enhanced editions with author commentary, interactive elements for non-fiction, and reading groups that connect readers with similar tastes.
Dewel Travel: Experiences Worth Having
Travel platforms have become cluttered with sponsored content, generic recommendations, and experiences optimized for Instagram rather than genuine discovery. We believe travel should be about authentic connection—with places, cultures, and people.
Dewel Travel will curate experiences that showcase unique destinations and authentic local culture. We're partnering with local guides, small operators, and cultural organizations to offer experiences you won't find on mainstream travel sites.
Think cooking classes with local families in Oaxaca, guided literary walks through Dublin with independent booksellers, or photography expeditions in rural Japan with local artists. These are experiences created by people who genuinely want to share their homes and cultures with curious travelers.
For experience hosts, we're building tools that make it easy to create, price, and manage offerings without the heavy fees charged by existing platforms. Our commission structure will be significantly lower than competitors, and we'll provide marketing support to help hosts reach the right travelers.
The Dewel Network Vision
Every product we build shares the same core values: independence for creators, fair economics, and direct connections between creators and their audiences. Whether it's music, film, books, or travel experiences, we believe the people who create should be in control.
We're not trying to compete with Amazon or Spotify or Airbnb on their terms. We're building something different—platforms that prioritize quality over quantity, creativity over conformity, and genuine human connection over algorithmic optimization.
Timeline and Early Access
Dewel Books is currently in active development, and we expect to launch a beta version in Q3 2026. We're actively seeking independent authors interested in being early adopters—if that's you, reach out to us at books@dewelnetwork.com.
Dewel Travel is in earlier stages, with a planned launch in Q1 2027. We're currently building partnerships with experience hosts in select destinations. If you're a local guide, cultural organization, or small tour operator interested in joining our platform, contact us at travel@dewelnetwork.com.
We'll share more details as development progresses. Follow our blog for updates, and thank you for being part of the Dewel Network community.
